The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), had threatened to withdraw the certificate of return from the Speaker, Imo House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amarachi Iwuanyanwu, former Speaker, Rt. Hon Chiji Collins and others for leaving APGA for APC.
The State Chairman of APGA, Hon. John Iwuala in a meeting involving leaders of the party, held in Owerri, on Thursday, disclosed that the party will head to court to ask it to declare the seats of the six APGA defected lawmakers vacant and conduct fresh election. Iwuala vowed that it will invoke the Nigeria constitution to justify their removal from office.
The party has also stated that it will fully participate in the forthcoming local government election with an assurance to win majority of the seats, saying it is on ground and ready to win 2023 election to restore the dignity of Imo people who it said are suffering and dying under APC rulership.
Hoisting flags at the party secretariat Owerri with the significance of preparedness of cruising to victory at elections, Iwuala however encouraged members of the party to continue to work in unity, tolerance and cordiality to move the part forward.
