Abia State government has rolled out some measures aimed at controlling the resurging rise in the cases of Corona Virus infections in the State.
The new measures which were announced on Monday through a statement signed by the Secretary to the Abia State government, Barr. Chris Ezem, banned large gathering of people and made the wearing of face mask in offices and all public places compulsory.
The State government also directed Abia residents to go for Covid-19 tests at Molecular laboratories in Aba and Amachara, Umuahia to confirm their status.
The statement further directed banks and offices not to offer any service or assistance to any person not putting on a face masks, adding that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s government was totally committed to winning the war against the pandemic, but urging Abians to take the war serious.
Meanwhile, the Abia State Ministry of environment has warned Abians traveling home for Christmas against contracting the virus while merry-making.
The Commissioner for environment, Chief Anthony Nwanmuo gave the warning at Umuahia North LGA headquarters during the monthly State clean-up exercise, held on Saturday.
The Commissioner, represented by Mr Ikechukwu Ukaegbu, the Director of operations and pollution control warned Nigerians against the second wave of the pandemic, which he said could be deadlier than the first one, if not controlled.
