ASTUC Crowns Anambra INEC Commissioner, Queen-Elizabeth with Leadership Award

The Anambra State Town Union Council, ASTUC, Youth Wing, has presented a 'Transparent And Examplary Leadership Award' to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Anambra State, Queen-Elizabeth Agwu, in recognition of her significant contributions to ensuring the free, fair, transparent, and credible conduct of the governorship election in the state under her leadership. The event took at the INEC office in Awka, the state capital, on Friday, was equally to appreciate her over the last governorship election in the state. Presenting the Award, His Youthfulness, the ASTUC President-General, Hon. Ken Okoli said the award was of immense contribution of the Anambra REC in recognition of her outstanding performance since she assumed office and during the just concluded governorship election which Anambra recorded a peaceful, free, fair and credible polls. “We’ll use it to assess how an election should be done peacefully and without violence.” Comrade Okoli disclosed that the gesture was to appreciate Dr. Agwu for her examplary leadership style since she assumed office in the state. He further revealed that the State REC has been conducting credible, free and fair elections since her arrival, describing the just concluded Anambra governorship election which she conducted as the most credible and transparent election ever conducted in the state and Nigeria at large in recent times, urging Dr. Agwu to continue her good works. Responding, Dr. Agwu who said that she has conducted six different elections since her arrival in the state, appreciated ASTUC for finding her worthy for the award, saying that when she was appointed to oversee Anambra, she made a vow to God that she will never compromise under any guse, because of the complexity of the State. She further dedicated the award to God and the entire staff and management of the commission, assuring that she would continue to conduct free, fair and credible elections, and will also leave legacy that will stand the test of time, calling on the youths to believe in the country. Meanwhile, those present were INEC Administrative secretary, Mr Kenneth Obianya and Ejimofor Ejikeme.and the media.
