Army officers’ wives, under the aegis of Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) have lavished empowerment packages on widows of deceased military officers, as well as military schools and hospitals in Imo State.
Speaking while donating the items, wife of the Chief of Army Staff, Yahaya who was represented by Mrs Apollonia Ezugwu the emphasized on the need for wives of serving military personnel to rededicate themselves in supporting their families, children, youths, women and especially the vulnerable people in their midst.
She reminded them of their responsibility of keeping their home front and protecting the sanctity of their families which will in turn rub off positively on the entire country.
The wives of army officers complemented the effort of their husbands by making what they called token donation to widows of fallen heroes, staff of NAOWA nursery and primary school.
They donated some office equipment including; Computer sets, photocopy machine, lesser jet printer, scanner, power generating set and an office cabinet to their school at the Barracks.
The association also donated some medical equipment to the 34 Artillery Brigade medical centre. The equipment included; Automated External Defibrillator, ambush bags, stretcher, laboratory microscopes, oxygen cylinder with guage, weighing scales, suction machines and digital blood pressure monitoring apparatus.
While appreciating the support of the Chief of Staff and all officers of the Nigerian Army, She expressed optimism that the machines will alleviate the plight of those in need.
