The Anambra State Organised Health Sector Union (ASOHSU) has called off the proposed planned strike du to the inability of the state government to reach their demands. The union noted that since the state government has secured two of the demands of the workers namely Skipping of
CONHESS 10 and Enhanced Entry Point for nurses, they have resolved to step down pending the grace period given by the Commissioner of Health Dr Afam Obidike to attend to other two pressing matters like the approval of the Consolidated salary structure.

Dr Ikedi Onah Secretary to NANNM, Comrade Ugwu Mathew Nnabugwua Secretary MHWUN and Corade Afam Kanayo Udeozo secretary NUAHP disclosed this in a letter addressed to Governor Soludo and dated 4th September, 2025 through the union’s resolutions said “you may recall the health care professionals and workers in the employ of the State Govemment and the Local Government Areas of Anambra state under the aegis of
Anambra State Organized Health Sector Unions(ANSOHSU)issued a third 15-dayultimatum to the State Government on the 19th of August 2025 which was to expire at
midnight of Wednesday 3 September 2025.

“At the meeting convened by the Honourabe commissioner of Health on 1″September 2025 in his office which had in attendance the Honourable Commissioners of Health and
information, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Chairmen of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), some executives of Ministry of Health and leaders of State Joint Health Sector Unions, the Commissioner of Health appealed to the workers’ representatives to rescind the proposed industrial action billed to commence on Thursday 4″September 2025 at the expiration of our 15 days ultimatum”.
According to the resolution from the meeting, Dr Afam Obidike “reassured us that just as he has secured two of the demands of the workers namely Skipping of CONHESS 10 and Enhanced Entry Point for nurses in less than two weeks that he should be given the benefit of the doubt to achieve within four (4)weeks counting from Monday, 1″September 2025 the approval of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure and the rest of the demands of the health professionals and workers.

Those propositions would have been rejected but for the appeal of other well-meaning Anambrarians in the likes of leaders of the two (2)labour centers -the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress.Sir, let it be known to you that we have exhausted all protocols, patience and diligence in
this labour relationship and that after the four (4)weeks ending on 29 September 2025.

The resolutions further stated that the Union shall have no other option than to reorder our priorities to resume the suspended strike without any further recourse to you.
