With 3,865 passengers and 142 flights recorded in just one month of operation, Anambra Airport, Umueri has been tipped to emerge the most profitable Airport in Nigeria.

This valuation was contained in a statement by a pro-South East group, True Home Initiative, during its extra-ordinary meeting held in Abriba, Ohafia LGA of Abia State.

The group in its statement, jointly signed by its founder, Bro Iwe Okorie and Ambassador Sylvanus Oramalu, Secretary-general, praised Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State for completing the project, while still in power.

The group reasoned that with the impressive patronage recorded by the new airport within a short period of operation, the facility would not only conquer air travel market in the South East/ South South zone of the country but also compete favourably with Murtala Mohammed Airport Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe airports, Abuja.

The pro-Igbo group said it was a thing of joy that two major Airlines, Air Peace and United Nigeria Airlines had started operations in the airport and urged travelers, to patronise Anambra Airport and Sam Mbakwe Airport Owerri, to grow the South East economy.
True Home Initiative used the opportunity to advise other South East Governors, businessmen and other investors to consider the South East as their first choice in investment.

“The federal government has been unfair to the South East in the area of infrastructural development. It is on this point that we praise Governor Willie Obiano for completing this project even before his hand over date. We need more of these projects in the South East.”

It continued, “For an Airport which some people did not give the chance to succeed, now recording a142 flights, 3865 passengers is an indication that the Airport would soon dominate the aviation market in the South East and South South. We challenge other South East Governors, businessmen, investors to think South East first”, said the group.
