The Abia State government has proscribed two transport unions in the State, namely, the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Self-Acquired Tricycle Owners Association (SATOA), led by Chief Eugene Eze Job, for alleged multiple collection of daily tickets as well as harassment of genuine government revenue agents.

The state government in a statement on Wednesday signed by the Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Godswill Nwanoruo, alleged that the Eugene Eze Job-led NURTW and SATOA had continued to print and sell paper tickets in the state, in total disobedience to the Abia state government’s directive that such payments should be made through government-provided online modes.

The state government further accused the NURTW and SATOA workers of allegedly harassing and molesting genuine officials of the government who were on duty, observing that such activities amounted to sabotage to the State government.

The commissioner regretted that the State government frowns at multiple collection of revenue from transporters or payment of revenue into unapproved accounts and said such conducts would not be condoned.
The statement concluded by declaring the two unions led by Eugene Eze Job proscribed while asking security agents in the state to take note of the order proscribing the unions.
