Abia State government has approved the immediate lifting of ban on movement of trucks in the State. The new directive removes the previous order which forbade the movement of trucks from 6am to 9am. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu gave the approval on Saturday in a release signed by Barr Chris Ezem, Secretary to Abia State government (SSG). He directed the State economic advancement team to ensure that necessary signage and road blocks are put in place at strategic locations in the State.

The release stated that the signage and road blocks would allow for speed control of heavy trucks around the State. The Governor equally advised the leadership of truck and trailer drivers unions ensure that their members strictly observe all traffic and road control signs in the State. It was not known if the lifting of the ban was to pacify truck drivers over alleged shooting of their members on Saturday by security men on Enugu-Aba-Port expressway.
