State government has mapped out plans to relocate illegal motor parks at Isi Gate area of Umuahia as well as tackle the menace of illegal trading around the State capital.
This development was made known by the Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Trade and Commerce, Dr Chimezie Ukaegbu who said that said that a central median would be built across the road starting from Warri Street, to ensure that motorists do not take a U-turn at Warri Street but do that at ShopRite axis of the city.
The Governor’s Special Adviser said the policy would ease traffic in and around Isigate Umuahia areas, and blamed the presence of illegal traders at Isi Gate on the activities of illegal motor parks in the city centre.
He further informed that the State government is planning to relocate the motor parks to approved parks, adding that the Governor has already constituted a committee on street trading which would soon go into action.
He emphasized that the strategy was to provide a conducive place, adding that the government is working for proper harmonization of market taxes in the State and maintained that the vision of Governor Alex Otti-led administration in the State is to provide a conducive business environment in raising revenues for the State.
The Special Ukaegbu noted that the Ubani market in Umuahia would be provided with tarred roads, quality water, electrify and access roads by fixing Umueze-Agbo-Ubani road.
