A palm oil processing mill, animal farms and school buildings donated by two individuals have been commissioned and handed over to beneficiaries.
The commissionng was done by the Deputy Governor of Abia state, sir Ude Oko Chukwu. The Palm oil mill was constructed and donated to Amabu Ugwueke community in Bende LGA, while a vast animal farm for rearing of different animals of different species, was also donated to the people of Onu Ibina Igbere, also in Bende LGA of the State, by Dr Nnamdi Ibekwe.
Speaking while handing over the facilities to the villagers, Dr Ibekwe said there was need to equip the rural farmers to increase their yield and from there, become big-time players in Nigeria’s economy.
He also expressed optimism that the fortunes of the rural farmers would be transformed through the gesture but cautioned the beneficiaries against misusing the opportunities at their disposal.
Speaking earlier during inspection and handing over of the projects, the Deputy of Abia State, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu praised the efforts of Dr. Nnamdi Ibekwe, whose Oziomachi foundation was behind the projects.
He pointed out that the administration of Okezie Ikpeazu was always interested in partnering the visions of people like Ibekwe, and charged other able individuals in the State to take a cue from Ibekwe.
Similarly, Chukwu who was also a special guest at the public presentation of the book, (Odyssey Of Bende), and commissioning of primary School Building and water borehole projects by Barrister Emeka Okorie at Ndiorieukwu Bende LGA, noted that documented works has a way of teaching and impacting on people’s way of life since oral history could be lost with time.
The Deputy Governor commended Barrister Emeka Okorie for taking out his time and resources not only to write about his LGA but also to erect primary school building and water borehole projects for his community and assured him of government support to equip and send teachers to the school, do things that will be of immense benefit to all and urged all to buy and read the book, Odyssey Of Bende.
