A group known as Atiku Support Organisation (ASO) has said that Nigerians missed the chance to take the country to a greater height by not having Alhaji Abubakar Atiku as the president of the country in 2019.
The group in a statement at Aba, signed by its Abia State Coordinator, Barr. Chima Ogbonna during its inaugural executive meeting said it had reactivated its mandate to sell the candidacy of the former vice- president of Nigeria before the 2023 game.
The ASO regretted that the economic and security crises rocking the nation would have been avoided if the 2023 election results came out in reflection of people’s wish, but expressed the confidence that the country still has the chance to correct the anomaly in 2023 by picking the right choice.
Also speaking, the zonal coordinator of ASO, Hon. Alozie Alozie said the activities of the pro-Atiku group were active in the entire South East zone and beyond, adding that Abia State chapter, headed by Ogbonna had successfully been inaugurated.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Abia State Chapter, Hon. Ceekay Igara has been elected the new Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC), of the state chapter.
He was elected on Thursday in an election held in Umuahia with a call by the new leadership for the Abia State government, security agencies and general public to avoid dealing with miscreants who may parade themselves as IPAC leaders.
Igara in his mission statement after his victory, promised to lead the council with the fear of God and to pilot the affairs of his office in line with the mandate given to him.
Igara also said the victory of Labour Party in councillorship elections in Ikwuano L.G.A. recently, showed the strength of the party in the rural and urban parts of the state, vowing that his party would spring more surprises in future polls in the state and the entire country.
