The Chairman of maize growers, processors and marketers association of Nigeria, Abia State chapter, Dr Clement Uhie has tasked Nigerian youths on opportunities in agriculture sector.
This is even as he has identified good parenthood as the panacea to socio-political crises and rising crime rate in the country.
Dr Uhie stated these at Oboni Upah, Ikemba autonomous community , Ikwuano LGA of Abia State during the burial of his mother, Lolo Margret Nwanyigbo Onyemafor Uhie, held at All Saints Methodist Church, Oboni Upah.
He noted that if Nigerian youths appropriated the available opportunities in agriculture and acquired skills, unemployment and crime rates would drop drastically.
He recalled how his late mother who was aged 101 and her husband who were astute farmers were able to train their children and other relatives through their agricultural outputs.
Dr Uhie also charged young mothers to emulate his late mother who in good conduct and community building, especially in godly upbringing of their kids.
He commended the Central Bank of Nigeria and members of maize growers, processors and marketers of Nigeria for their efforts in economic survival of the nation.
Delivering the sermon during the burial church service, Rev Chimezie Onyejiuwa of Methodist Church Nigeria condemned high level of greed and suppression of the poor people by privileged people in the society, warning that God’s wrath would descend on sinners.
Rev Onyejiuwa extolled the virtues of Lolo Margret Nwanyigbo Uhie for her service to God and man, especially in Methodist Church Nigeria at Oboni Upah and beyond.
Officials of Central Bank of Nigeria, community leaders, in-laws and other guests who attended the burial event also praised the late matriarch for maintaining her strong faith in God, until death.
