Abia State Government has warned meat consumers to avoid cow lungs, until a proper investigation is concluded by the ministry of Agriculture on a suspicious incident of Bovine Tuberculosis.

The warning came from the commissioner for agriculture, Prof Ikechi Mgboji who disclosed that two cows were discovered to have been infected with Bovine Tuberculosis, a deadly disease that easily infects the human system at a popular abattoir on Aba -Ikot Ekpene road, Aba.

Mgboji added that investigations have so far commenced to unravel the extent of the cow disease outbreak. He warned Abians to take the discovery serious as any disobedience may cause them untold hazard.

“About two weeks ago, two cows were found to have Bovine Tuberculosis. so we advice that people should stop eating cow lungs for now, until Investigations are concluded. They may however eat the flesh,” Mgboji advised. .
