Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has described the comments of Rivers State Governor, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike of him being responsible and involved in the sacking of Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi by a Federal High Court as verbal diarrhoea that will surely destroy his political career.
A statement by Ohanaeze was in reaction to a viral video in which it said Wike claimed to have masterminded the Federal High Court ruling that had Governor Umahi sacked from office.
The apex Igbo socio-cultural group said that Wike’s statements in all national issues are worrisome and sends a serious signal of tyrannical predispositions that likely will wreck his political career to a disastrous end.
In a statement signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, the group said that any Governor who is instrumental to displace a fellow Governor will be labeled as the new version of Idi Amin Dada of Nigeria, who derived happiness in other people’s pains and tragedies.
Ohanaeze said it is marveled at how anyone could claim to have publicly manipulated the judiciary towards getting a favorable verdict just to score cheap political goals and popularity.
“We are reviewing the legal implications of Governor Wike’s vexatious outbursts of being instrumental in the Abuja High Court Judgments that sacked Ebonyi Governor, Deputy Governor, and House of Assembly members.
“Our suspicion was reinforced by the open standpoint of Governor Wike in Ebonyi leadership crisis, this is a confirmation that there is a grand hooligan and rogue operation to destabilize South-East, but unfortunately coming from a man who denied his identity as an Igbo.
“The massacre of Igbos in Obigbo (Oyibo) in Rivers State is still fresh in our minds and the sponsors of the grand scheme and conspiracy to remove the Ebonyi Governor remains a subversive and provocative invasion aimed at distracting the South-East from the 2023 presidential election.”
Ohanaeze said it is aware of the fact that that Appeal and Supreme Courts will weigh the Abuja High court judgment against Umahi, but demanded to know for how long will Governor Wike continue to use locals to quarrel the Governors of Ebonyi and Edo.
“How long will Wike realize that he should be a shining light of PDP and Niger Delta rather than picking up fights on all fronts? Ndigbo will forgive Governor Wike if he retreats and apologizes to Umahi, but disastrous consequences await him if he continues in these futile expeditions,” Ohanaeze said.
