A group called Anambra Elders and Stakeholders Forum for Good Leadership, has saluted Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, for extending hands of fellowship to the members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
This is the first time such a call for peace and security between government and the freedom agitation group was made in the state.
The forum in a statement signed and issued to the media in Awka last week through its Public Relations Officer, Ogbueshi Emeka Mbagha, said it “viewed the move for dialogue by Professor Charles Soludo as the right step in the right direction which will promote peace and minimise insecurity in our dear state.
“The elders share in his ideal as encapsulated in his acceptance speech where he called on IPOB and ESN to work with him to advance peace, development and security in the state.”
The elders had however regretted the issue that manifested during the official swearing- in ceremony of the Governor at Government House Awka between the Widow of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Chief Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu and the wife of the immediate past Governor, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, urging the Governor to intervene in the crisis, even as they promised to join hands with the Governor to ensure that peace returns to both parties.
The Elders wished the new administration a successful tenure that will restore dignity of humanity and economic prosperity to all persons irrespective of class, academic qualification and age
