It was a painful experience as a yet to be identified person lost his life in an ghastly road accident on Monday along the Enugu Onitsha express way in Anambra.
Confirming this, Ag, Sector Public Education Officer of the Anambra State Federal Road Safety Corps, DRC Margaret B Onabe said “A fatal road traffic crash occurred before Amawbia bridge inward Enugu section of the express by Awka-Enugu expressway today, 4th January, 2021 at about 18:15hrs.
“The crash was between two vehicles”. “An unidentified driver of a black Nissan Pathfinder (private) with registration number: EPE285EP and an unidentified driver of a white/blue Howo Trailer with no registration number. The probable cause of the serious crash was attributed to excessive speed”.
According to an eyewitness report, the driver of the Nissan Pathfinder was on high speed, lost control and rammed into the trailer and crashed.
However, three male adults were involved in the crash. One male adult (passenger of the Nissan Pathfinder) sustained injury while one male adult (driver of the Nissan Pathfinder) and another one was rescued unhurt (driver of the trailer).
The injured victims were rushed to Amaku Hospital Awka where one male adult was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
The Sector Commander Anambra State Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi commiserated with the families of the dead victim and wished the injured victim quick recovery. He warned motorists to desist from over speeding and drive within speculated speed limits.
