The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), has promised to continue supporting Enugu State by increasing its developmental activities in the state during governor-elect, Peter Mbah’s administration.

The agency said it would give comprehensive support in the areas of development planning, strengthening of the state’s management system, and public financial system.
UNICEF, which made the pledge during a courtesy visit to the governor-elect promised cooperation and support to the incoming administration of the Enugu State governor-elect, Peter Mbah.

Hamidu Ponfon, chief of social policy, UNICEF country office Abuja, and Juliet Chiluwe, chief of field office, UNICEF Enugu, expressed their pleasure at the content of Mbah’s manifesto.
The officials said Mbah’s social protection framework which touches on poverty eradication and financial management, aligns with the objectives of UNICEF.

Furthermore, the support will also touch on social policies that will boost the health sector for improved maternal and neonatal well-being.

Mbah thanked the UNICEF team for the enormous goodwill towards him and promised a stronger partnership between the agency and the state government during his administration.
He reiterated his commitment to disrupting the existing revenue model so as to raise more funds to address the challenges facing the state.

He added that his administration would strengthen primary healthcare, security and deployment of public accountability through an e-governance structure to enable transparency.
