She noted that for years the lofty dream of establishing a medical school seemed a mirage but thanked God for the actualization of the dream.
She noted that the Teaching Hospital will bring hope to Imo people who travel to other States to seek for medical treatment.
She noted that the Teaching hospital will also provide opportunities for advanced medical research through linkages with foreign partners. She stated that it would also generate employment across different staff cadre and also facilitate the use of Information Technology in health delivery and expand research into the use of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence in Health care delivery.
She further urged for massive infrastructural development, upgrade in curriculum and teaching pedagogy, upgrade of laboratories with state of the arts equipment amongst others
The vice Chancellor said that efforts should also be made to move the Teaching Hospital which is situated at FMC Owerri to it’s permanent site by addressing the issue of illegal encroachment and annexation of FUTO lands by mindless land spectators over the years.
