The National Association of Seadogs, Pyrate Confraternity have celebrated with the kids of Chiemma Orphanage home Awka to mark the 2025 Children’s Day celebration.
The event which was attended by members of the NAS-PC (Honduras Deck) on the 27th May, 2025, had presentation of essential drugs aimed at improving the health condition of the children.
In his remark, the Capoon, Honduras Deck, Dr. Vincent Onwughalu, noted that the visitation is in line with the Children’s Day celebration for the year which is very strategic as it tends to increase in the children the sense of belongingness in society. It communicates a message that children who are not with their biological parents should not be left out in a day like today.
The Capoon stressed that the visit was set to draw attention to the various conditions of the children in orphanages and similar homes across the country and calls for both individual and collective actions for their best interests and to meet their needs.
“We use this occasion to call on all well-meaning Nigerians, faith-based groups, Non-governmental organizations, and the government across all levels to support the less privileged children in society to promote their self-determination to enable them to achieve their full potential in life”.
The team members, Onwo Chetachukwu Christian said “we are here to celebrate with the children of Chiemma homes and also present some drugs especially the Sickle Cell drugs owing to the fact that these drugs are expensive in the market and the need to save them from ailments”
“We also plead with the government, non governmental organisations and well meaning individuals to assist these Sickle Cell children get easy access to these drugs”.
In appreciation, Mr Michael Nagbuo who spoke on behalf of Chiemma Homes expressed happiness over the visitation by the association. “I was told of your visit last two years and today your here again to show concern and celebrate with us. I know how much these drugs cost and some people choose to buy food instead of drugs which are more needed for these children”.
Advicing the children, Ofodire Innocent Ewah called on the children to be dedicated in their studies, pray, listen to their wards/guidance, respect one another and always love each other. “Our country Nigeria is bedevilled with alot of challenges and we are looking up to you all as change agents of the society and that we trust you all will become”, he added.
Side attraction were the presentation of the drugs and picture taking. Among those present at visit were Ogbonna Izuchukwu Emmanuel, and Nwogu Nnamdi Ikechukwu.
