Anambra State is set to get a modern telemedicine hub and spoke system, as well as new laboratory equipment for all 326 Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) across the state.
The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) approved the release of over N2 billion for these projects, which are part of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to ensuring an efficient and responsive health system in Anambra State.
News Echo reports that the telemedicine system will allow patients to consult with doctors remotely, without having to travel to a major hospital. This will be especially beneficial for patients in rural areas, who often have to travel long distances to access healthcare.
The new laboratory equipment will also help to improve the quality of healthcare services available in PHCs.
The telemedicine system is expected to be completed within 5 months, while the laboratory equipment is expected to be installed within the same timeframe.
