The Residents of Naze, Nekede (Umudibia) and Ihiagwa communities, Owerri, have appealed to Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) and government to improve in supplying them regular electricity.

Speaking to our reporter in Owerri on Thursday, the residents urged government and EEDC to strengthen power supply, wondering if they pay for darkness and suffering.

One of the residents of Nekede (Umudibia), Chief Emmanuel Njoku, requested government to assist EEDC to fix the dilapidated Centre Light Control wire and transformer at Naze Roundabout, Opposite Airforce Base, off Aba Road, Owerri.

Njoku said the Centre Light Control wire which was destroyed by the recent rainstorm should be fixed quickly to avert danger and further suffering.

Nnenna Akum, a trader and Ijeoma Mba, a teacher, Nazi and Ihiagwa residents respectively, lamented that business now moves slowly given to lack of public power supply, regretting that power consumers especially Ahiagwa (FUTO), Nekede (Poly) and Naze residents waste their resources on electricity bills, especially with government and EEDC surcharging and shortchanging them.

A Poly student, Ogechi Iwuoha, urged EEDC to give them quality and steady light to encourage hardwork, productivity and excellence, reiterating that regular electricity advances development, peace and economic prosperity.
