The Director General of National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah has enjoined corps members to undertake personal and group Community Development Service (CDS) projects that will help to uplift the living standard of the people of their host communities.
The Abia State Coordinator, Mr Julius Ekeh who read the Director General’s address at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Umunna in Bende L.G.A, of the State, during the closing ceremony of the 2022 Batch ‘B’ stream II orientation course, urged them to sustain the spirit of patriotism, hard work and resilience which they imbibed during the Orientation Course, as they begin the next phase of the Service Year. His words, “I also wish to commend your patriotic zeal as demonstrated by your participation in Camp activities and exhibition of high level of discipline.
“I urge you to sustain the spirit of patriotism, hard work and resilience which you imbibed during the Orientation Course. It is my ardent hope that you will strive to meet the expectations of Nigerians by contributing towards the progress and development of our fatherland. “I would like to remind you of your oath of allegiance in which you pledged to accept posting in good faith.
I enjoin you to perform your duties with diligence and be guided by the provisions of the NYSC Act and Bye-Laws as well as workplace rules and regulations. “In keeping with the objectives of the Scheme, you are expected to integrate into your host communities while also appreciating and respecting their cultures”, NYSC DG tasked the corps members. Brig. Gen. Fadah encouraged the 1139 corps members who participated in the orientation exercise, made up of 586 males and 583 females to build on the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED programme acquired in the camp by availing themselves of opportunities for post-camp training as this will go a long way in empowering them for self-reliance.
