Matriculation: FedPolyNek Rector charges students on academic excellence

As about 5000 students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, matriculated, Rector of the school, Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa, has charged them to shun anti social behaviors such as cultism, drug abuse, exam malpractice, sexual abuse, cohabitation, but study hard, obey rules and regulations of the institution in order to graduate in flying colors to become more useful to themselves, families and the society in general.

Arimanwa, who gave the charge when he addressed the new students during the 44th matriculation ceremony held at the school’s pavilion last week, told the students to ensure to live a worthy life to enable them pass out in character and learning which he said is the hallmark of the school.

According to the Rector, “your character must define your personality and academic achievements. It must all times be clean and unquestionable so that you will not constitute embarrassment to yourself, family, department and the institution”, reminding the students to always discard indecent dressing as penalty is immediate rustication from the institution.

He enjoined the Students ‘Union Government of the institution to see the management as partners in progress, even as he congratulated, as well as wished them well in their stay in the polytechnic, stating that Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri would send about forty students to Innoson Automobile Manufacturing Company in Anambra State for their Industrial Training.

“A little above 5000 students matriculated. The ceremony is a moment of joy for the new students. A lot of people across Africa want to come and study in Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri because of its high academic standard; we are sought after. The 44th matriculation shows that the school has gone far in terms of academic excellence. We are the best, our students are the best and are always happy”, the Rector maintained.
