Alex Otti Foundation has flagged off scholarship scheme for Abia students in public universities and Polytechnics, for 2022.
The foundation made the disclosure in Umuahia, Abia State in a statement on the scholarship project for the year 2022.

The executive Director of the foundation, Mr. Chinedu Eke in the statement, said the scholarship project was not connected with Dr. Alex Otti’s political career, but only designed by Dr. Otti to produce brilliant minds that would rule the future and to leave a lasting legacy in Abia State and the entire world.
The executive director stated that world-class consultants from globally-acclaimed institutions were engaged by the foundation for the screening of all applicants to the scholarship, declaring that an interested applicant did not need to be connected to a high society personality before he or she could benefit from the scholarship.

He announced that about 50 students have so far been interviewed for the 2022 edition, noting that each successful applicant receives the sum of N150,000 per session till the students graduate, apart from the banquet organised for them on their year of selection.
The Alex Otti foundation stated that 35 students were given scholarship in 2021, even as he traced the history of the educational project to 2017 which had given opportunities to hundreds of brilliant students, especially those from poor homes.

On who is qualified to apply, he said any student of Abia State origin or any student resident in Abia State are qualified and added that any student who has any ancestral trace to Abia State is also qualified to apply for scholarship.
“Dr Alex Otti is sponsoring it and he is doing everything possible to improve the standard of education in Nigeria. It is not a political scheme. It is hard organising something that is transparent. Nobody is allowed to influence or smuggle his or her children into the program because we choose the best”, said Chinedu Eke.
