One hundred students selected from different tertiary institutions in Abia State on Wednesday received scholarship from Senator Theodore Ahamefula Orji, the Senator representing Abia North district in continuation of his scholarship program.

The event which was held at Senator Orji’s Senatorial office at Aba road by Azikiwe road junction, Umuahia, was for students drawn from the Senator’s Abia Central zone while the students were selected from different institutions like Abia State University, Uturu, Michael Okpara University, Umudike, Abia State Polytechnic, Aba etc.

In his address during the presentation of the money for the benefiting students, Senator Orji reminded the students the need to utilise the scholarship opportunities, noting that education was the future of the society.

Orji, who is a former Governor of Abia State, reiterated his determination to remain in tune with the needs of his constituents while maintaining that those he represents would continue to feel positive impact of his mission in the National Assembly.

Flanked by his wife, Mrs Odochi Orji and other top Peoples Democratic Party members during the event, the Senator wished the beneficiaries a great future .

Some of the benefiting student, including Miss Grace Michael thanked Senator Orji for remembering her, adding that it was a great surprise and joy to be picked among beneficiaries.

The elated student urged other able individuals to emulate Orji’s style.

Meanwhile, Senator Orji has described as “blackleg’s”, some people who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to other parties over some unreasonable claims.

He stated this on Monday while inspecting his constituency projects at Ohokobe Afara, Umuarisga Ikwuano, Ojwuta Ibeku etc.

According to the Senator, ” Blacklegs know why they have decamped . If you are decamping, you know why you are doing so.”

The former Governor continued “If you go there and it is better for you, that is okay. But if you go there and it is not good for it is okay . That is politics, you can not hold anybody person to a particular place.”Orji said.
He equally charged political office holders to attract meaningful projects to better the lives of those they represent.
