The Imo state University Owerri, has inducted the 2020/2021 set of doctors of optometry into the Optometrist and dispensing Optician Registration board of Nigeria (ODORBN). Speaking at the induction/Oath taking ceremony, the HOD of the department, Dr MC Nsonwu commended the graduates for the commitment and resilience they displayed through the period of their study and encouraged them to stick to the rare knowledge that they have gathered in the institution while striving to widen their scope on other aspects of life.

He further urged them ti treat their patients with care while maintaining the ethics of the profession. He also seized the opportunity to advice the masses to always take good care of their eyes and stop patronising quacks but to seek the attention of certified eye doctors in order not to jeopardize their health and sight.

He further advised the grandaunts to be good ambassadors of the institution who has found them worthy both in learning and in character while urging them to exhibit the virtues of dedication, love, commitment and integrity in all that they do.

He therefore thanked the vice-chancellor of the institution, the staff of the department and the governor of the state Senator Hope Uzodimma who due to his love for quality education has supported to school and the students.

Some of the inductees who spoke to newsmen thanked God for a successful graduation and promised to maintain the ethics of the profession in their practice. An inductee Dr Ezeh Valentine advised the public to endeavour to go for regular eye check for early detection of eye cases as he noted that early detection can prevent blindness in the long run.
