Abia State Command of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has arrested a Mathematics teacher, one Mr Ikechuckwu Uduma and his accomplice, Godswill Enyiazu for plotting to traffic two teenage girls to Lagos.
They were nabbed by the NSCDC after being under surveillance for some time. Parading the suspects in Umuahia on Friday, Abia State Commandant of the Corps, Mr Paul Igwebuike said the rescued teenage girls were Mmesomachi Goodluck (17 years) and Blessing Omini (16).
He revealed that the Mathematics teacher was teaching at Christ Firm international school located in Ubaha Umunna Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA of the State. The NSCDC Commandant disclosed that the two suspects were planning to smuggle the girls to Lagos immediately they finished writing their WAEC exams until luck ran out of them.
He added that the arrested human traffickers when interrogated claimed they were taking the girls to Lagos to secure employment for them in an undisclosed company. Items that were recovered from the suspects were a Nissan Primeira car with Registration number, MUS 226HK and a travelling bag containing the personal belongings of the girls.
In their statements, Mmesomachi Goodluck and Blessing Omini said they were promised employment in Lagos by arrested suspects. The teenagers claimed that they informed their parents about the botched Lagos ’employment trip’.
