A Middle -aged man , Mr Chidi Nkire has been nabbed in Obingwa LGA of Abia State for allegedly raping three of her female children, aged 14, 12 and 8. He was nabbed by men of Abia State Vigilance group and has after commiting the crime for about one year. The suspect was said to have divorced his wife about two years ago because of undisclosed matter, after which he started having carnal knowledge of his helpless daughters.
One of the victims, it was learnt, said her father always threatened to kill them and also starved them of food, before raping them at night, after which he also threatened to kill them should they reveal their ordeal to anyone. But a village source said that one of the daughters braved the odds and revealed their travails to a villager who in turn, contacted the man of Abia Vigilance who promptly arrested the alleged rapist father.
The arrest of the suspect was confirmed by Mr Victor Ogidinta, the Leader of Abia Vigilance group in Obingwa, adding the matter had been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, Umuahia. Confessing his crime, the suspect blamed the devil for his actions and begged his defiled daughters to forgive him.
The suspect has so far handed over to the Police for more investigation and prosecution. In another development, a 37-year-old man, who confessed to be a HIV patient, Mr Chiemela Victor Ekeke has raped a 4-year-old baby at Eze Ogbulafor Street in Umuahia. The suspect, is from Ndioru, Ikwuano LGA was arrested after commiting the crime. It was learnt that the suspect sneaked into the resident of the victim in the afternoon when the mother of the baby had gone out. He was said to have lured the baby into a room where he defiled the baby.
But the mother of the child on return saw a drop of blood and her daughter’s awkward movement, which made her to raise alarm, which attracted neighbors. Neighbors told her about the presence of the suspect, Chiemela Victor Ekeke while she (mother) was away, and this led to the arrest of the alleged rapist. When interrogated, the suspect said he only used his hand to touch the baby in the genitals. He also confessed being a HIV positive patient but claimed that his doctor told him that his own “HIV case is just a small case”.
The video of the baby rapist’s confession has been trending in the State since Monday night. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of Abia State Police Command, Chioma Maureen Chinaka did not respond to confirm if the matter had been reported to the Police.
