The Zone 9 Police Headquarters in Umuahia, Abia State says it has arrested a cleric, one Bishop Jeremiah Henshaw of Nations of Christ Destiny Assembly Ministry International for allegedly having carnal knowledge of his underage house help. The Zone 9 Police in a release made available to the media dated March 10, 2022, gave the address of the suspect as No.27 Mission Hill Umuahia.

The release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Zone 9, SP George Okafor, for the Assistant Inspector-General of Police was titled “Desecration of the Alter God by self-acclaimed Bishop Jeremiah Henshaw.” The Police disclosed that it received credible information on the 2nd March 2022 from Police operatives of Zone 9 headquarters in Umuahia about nefarious activities of the exposed cleric.

The command explained that after receiving information about the crime, “the Police swung into action and the Bishop was arrested and interrogated. He confessed to have defiled the 14-year-old girl in his statement, stating that he was unprotected while having carnal knowledge of the victim.” According to the release, the said Bishop during his confession allegedly claimed that he only committed the crime for the first time.

The Police warned parents in Abia State to be sure of whom to entrust their kids with, to avoid exposing them to wolves while advising Abia residents to always volunteer credible information to the Zone to aid the Police towards achieving a crime- free society. Meanwhile, the suspect would be charged to Court for prosecution when investigations are concluded on the matter, the release said.
