Following the recent attack on police station at Onueke, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, residents of the area have expressed fears as policemen desert duty posts for fear of further attacks.

Recall that hoodlums had on Friday night invaded the Onueke Police Division on motorcycles and a tricycle and opened fire at policemen on duty, leading to the death of three policemen and leaving two others injured.

The hoodlums were said to have set a section of the station ablaze, and burnt not less than four cars parked at the station.
Speaking with our correspondent, some of the residents noted that the absence of policemen on strategic duty posts in the area, has left them vulnerable to further attacks,

They said the police had since abandoned them after the bloody attack on its personnel and called on the state government to intervene and proffer solution to ensure their safety.

The police spokesperson in the state, DSP Loveth Odah, told our reporter that the command had commenced investigations into the attack, adding that the perpetrators would not go unpunished.
