Akunyili’s death: Obiano declares war on terror, places ₦20m bounty on killers

Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano has announced a reward of ₦20m for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of trigger happy criminals terrorizing the State since Sunday, especially those who killed the husband of late Prof. Dora Akunyili.

Addressing Anambra citizens yesterday at the Governor’s lodge, Amawbia, Obiano charged security agencies to arrest criminals who unleashed mayhem on the state, killing Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband of late Prof Dora Akunyili and nine others in a most gruesome attacks.

The Governor stressed that those behind the attacks must be unmasked and brought to book. He urged citizens to report any suspicious activity and pledged a reward of ₦20m for any useful information that will aid the arrest of the criminals.

“If you see something, say something”, while calling on all leadership structures in the State to support government and security agencies by reporting any suspicious activity or by calling emergency line: 07039194332 to report crime and provide useful information to the security agencies.

He urged members of the state to unite against terror and take back their State. “I urge all citizens of the State to unite in this fight against all forms of terror, intimidation and tyranny. We will not succumb to invaders as I am convinced that no Anambra son will indulge in this kind of heartlessness.

“To all law abiding citizens and persons living in our State, I urge you to go about your lawful businesses but we must now all go to work and take back our State. This is Anambra, the Light of the Nation, where darkness has no place”.

Obiano condoled with all those who lost dear ones in the senseless and horrifying attacks. He pledged to leave no stone unturned until the perpetrators are brought to book.
