Life has become more painful and stressful since the military occupation of the state at the prompting of the state government as its response to the growing insecurity. Road users along Orlu road have lamented to no end over their plight in the hands of soldiers especially those at Ubomiri near Nwaorieubi, the headquarters of Mbaitoli local government.

The delay in passing that point is akin to going through hell fire. According to Eng. Daniel Nwaike, a community and political leader from one of the communities around there, “passing through that particular point was like passing through hell fire, sometimes they will abandon vehicles for hours without any good reasons, even when the road is very free for motorists”, he lamented in his social media handle

He called on the Council chairman, the legislators representing the area in the state and national assembly to save the people from further inconvenience. It is clear the government was never instituted to create but to alleviate the problems of the people. How can they now be adding to it.

It is clear that social and economic lives of the people are jeopardized. That route is a very busy one connecting Orlu another big town and leading to Anambra. A relation of mine who attended a burial in the village left the ceremony so early abandoning his roles because he wants to connect Onitsha through another route than follow the Nwaorieubi or the usual Onitsha road.

Those who brought the soldiers should ask them to tone down their actions because an injury to one is an injury to all. No man is an island unto himself. Life is already so stressed, we are begging for more reliefs than adding to the plight.
