The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has made donation of relief materials to Imo State, for onward distribution to internally displaced people and victims of security crisis in the state.
Presenting the items, Secretary of the agency, Barr. Victor Egejuru who represented the Director General of the agency said they came to present the relief materials meant for Internally Displaced Persons and people who were one way or the other affected by the recent security crisis in the state.
He listed the items to include; 30 bags of rice, cartons of Spaghetti, tubers of yam, Ankara materials, bags of sugar, Sardines, vegetable oil, bags of salt, cans of palm oil.
Others according to him, included; Cartons of noodles, Cartons of adult diapers, Cartons of children’s diapers, Cartons of sanitary pads, Packs of Dettol soap, Sunlight detergent, Dettol disinfectant, Azail, Mattresses, Mosquito nets.
He further listed other items donated to the state by the agency to include: Prayer mats, Grinding machines, Sowing machines, Drugs for urgent medical care, Two motorcycles, Cartons of Maggi cube, among others.
He concluded thus; These are some of the items we brought. I came with good tidings and greetings from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency to the good people of Imo State. We believe the state government will know how to put items to good use”.
Responding on behalf of the state governor, Julia Ukaigwe while appreciating the agency for the kind gesture, said the items came at a time Imo State needed them most, pointing out that the governor has been doing his best, but there is no way he alone can satisfy every need in the state.
She solicited more of such donations from other well meaning agencies, corporate bodies, organizations and public spirited individuals.
