The Senate President, Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan had asserted that Imo people are Lucky to have Senator Hope Uzodimma as their governor. He said Nigeria is proud of the Imo governor because he is honest, prudent and reliable.
Lawan made this assertion penultimate weekend in Owerri, Imo State capital while commissioning a road constructed by Imo State Government and named after a former governor of Imo State, as well as the former president of Nigeria Senate, Senator Evan Enwerem.
According to the Senate President, though Uzodimma receives very little resources, yet he is doing more infrastructural development than the previous administrations. He consequently solicited the continued support of Imo people to his government which he said was doing a great and wonderful job in Imo state and congratulated him for achieving so much in one year.
The Senate President who was ecstatic over the naming of the road after his predecessor, Senator Evan Enwerem, said that the naming was very important and that the message is “Imo is working” and Imo will continue to work”.
He admonished Imo people to see government projects as their projects which they should utilize, protect, and own up.
Lawan described those who destroy government properties as enemies of the people.
The Senate President who delved into National issues informed that the National Assembly will always support good programmes of the Executive without recourse to public criticisms. He acknowledged that the security agencies need more resources to effectively confront the several challenges before them and reiterated the importance of the change in the leadership of the Service Chiefs, which he said was aimed at having new ideas and new strategies to fight the Nigerian common enemy.
In his address earlier, the Governor of Imo State Senator Hope Uzodimma said that the new road was in addition to the previous ones meant to reduce the infrastructure deficit in the State. He said the road revolution was to make Imo better, provide more access roads to the teaming population of Imo people and to allow for free movement of goods and services in the state as a whole.
The Governor who was elated by the presence of the Senator President Ahed Lawan and other Senators as well as APC leaders informed that Imo State is now in the good books of the national leadership.
He said he has come to serve and to bring prosperity using the limited resources available and that nothing can stop him from getting to his destination.
