Ahead of the Imo gubernatorial election, the supervising DIG, Imo state, DIG Frank MBA has told Election Observers, civil society and the media to avoid any action capable of generating chaos or conflict during the Election but to fact check information gotten before transmitting it to the control room.

 

He disclosed this while briefing newsmen in his office on Friday. He told them to ensure that every bit of information at their disposal is properly checked before pushing it out to avoid igniting confusion.

 

He maintained that Election Observers and the civil society are key partners that has contributed in improving the transparency and integrity of the police forces and assured of strengthening the collaboration and partnership with Election Observers and civil society groups.

He said the police command will process information received and act on them without divulging the identity of the source.

 

He further assured that the police force has already deployed its men for the off cycle Election and have resources and the operational access to ensure a peaceful Election.

 

He explained further that the police will ensure they act on the stipulation of the Constitution and the electoral act to ensure a credible Election.

 

He advised people to keep communication moderate and prove that Imo is safe and not a war zone

 

He said that the police, sister agencies as well as the paramilitary will work in synergy towards delivering a violent free Election.
