Abia State government has commenced a month -long Operation Show Your Tax Receipt exercise markets, motor parks and shopping centres in the State.

The Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Internally Generated Revenue, Isaac Chimereze Okeigbo made this known in Umuahia, saying that presentation and reconciliation of the tax receipts started on June 28 and would be concluded on July 27, 2023. Okeigbo explained that individuals doing businesses in markets, shops and motor parks would present evidence of their tax payments in the last two years to the government tax reconciliation team.

He added that the essence of the policy was to gather and keep accurate records of tax payments made into government accounts by the traders and businessmen in the two years under review.

The Special Adviser added that the policy would help the Abia tax payers to confirm if the taxes they had been paying to the State government were documented or not. He advised traders to cooperate with the tax verification team as the program is designed in the interest of Abians.
