Bigly Oil and Gas Ltd, a subsidiary of Bigly Group have stated emphatically that its mandate in Anambra is to collect haulage tax on behalf of the state government through the Anambra State Internal Revenue Services.

Operations manager, Bigly Oil and Gas Ltd Mr Chukwuma Nwabuikwu disclosed this during the weekend in a press conference held at Awka, the state capital.

According to Nwabuikwu, “Bigly Oil and Gas is IGR authorised partner with Anambra State Government to collect state wide haulage task on behalf of Anambra State Government and our services is divided into two, the upstream task collection ( levies from trucks passing through the states) and the downstream sector (levies we collect from the market)”.

“Our mandate is to optimise haulage task collection through the use of technology as a mandate of Govenror Charles Chukwuma Soludo which is to completely eliminate illegal collections through the use of technology system”.

“Since we have been given this authority, We started operations on 1st of September, 2023 and we have been in patentability together with AIRS to collect these revenues through the most civic way”.

He noted that Govenor Soludo did not abandone the Agboros but to reintegrate them, rehabilitate and provide them with gainful employments. So the people you call agboros are Annambra and Igbo youths who are being trained, kitted and mandated to collect revenue on behalf of the state government.

“So our recruitment process were thorough, we collected their details, which includes BVN, NIN when down to their Umunna level and submitted these information to the office of Special Adviser to Governor on security matters. So they were vetted and screened before they where reinstated to the streets”.

“When you see them at work stations you see they were kitted with their Identification cards. Now before we took off operations on the 23rd of September and that is after we took three weeks to prepare induction workshop in collaboration with AIRS which was attended by Prof Charles Soludo. After the workshop we had up to three hundred inducted who have started work as mandated by the state government as revenue collectors”.
