The General Manager of Adapalm Nigeria Limited, Hon. Goddy Esom Obodo, has advised youths to strive to acquire entrepreneurial skills such as sewing, artisanship, hairdressing, barbing, trading, among others so that they will be self employed to be able to eke out a proper living.
Obodo gave the advice during the official launching of his book titled “Youth Entrepreneurship In Nigeria: A Roadmap To Self Employment”, held at All Seasons Hotel, Owerri, last Saturday.
Obodo said he wrote the book to encourage people especially youths to actively get involve in entrepreneurial activities that can empower them to become financially stable and independent.
The former lawmaker stressed that the book which he said is a handbook for all youths who seek to set up own businesses and become employers of labor through enterprise establishment, mentioned that government alone cannot empower the people economically hence his efforts to put youths through via the book which he maintained more intellectual energy was expended to realize and publish the book for public consumption.
While recommending the book to every youth of Imo State and beyond to read and imbue themselves with deep knowledge of commerce and industry, Obodo reminded the youth to start with “small and medium enterprises to grow and become giant industries in future. Nigeria is drifting from an employing nation to a zero employment one. “Therefore, the right way to go is to encourage our youths both in school and out of school to acquire the habit of self employment. This is the reason for this book”.
Reviewing the book, Dr. Clifford Nwagu, reflected that the book which has 108 pages, ten chapters is apt as it centered on youths involvement in entrepreneurial ventures to become self reliant to beat poverty and hunger, saying the book also provided relevant information especially on effective use of technology such as computers and cell phones to make good and legal money, eulogizing the author for writing the book which he added is topical.
Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Barr. CMC Onuoha, former majority leader of Imo Assembly, observed that the author has always been celebrated in politics, academics, commerce and industry having been tasted and trusted.
However, Governor Hope Uzodimma, who was represented by his deputy, Prof. Placid Njoku, appreciated the author for writing and publishing the book which he recommended to all youths of Imo State.
